Welcome to Johar Town International!

LGS Johar Town International’s mission is to develop lifelong learners who are confident, compassionate, and committed to see education, and the process of acquiring both knowledge and understanding, as the ultimate means to a more peaceful, progressive, and sustainable world.

Why are we becoming International?

The future is uncertain, but one thing is for sure, the world is becoming more and more interconnected. We believe that the world of tomorrow will need an agile workforce that is more internationally-minded and better qualified than ever before, with careers that will span multiple jobs and skill sets which perhaps haven’t even been invented yet. By exposing students to diverse ways of thinking, problem solving and perspectives, our international program prepares them for success in the future by developing intercultural understanding, language learning, and global engagement.

What is the IB diploma and why do students choose to pursue it?

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP) is a challenging and rigorous pre-university course of study for students aged 16-19. The program is designed to develop the skills and knowledge that students need to succeed in a variety of careers, both in their home country and abroad, as well as to become informed and responsible global citizens.

The program is divided into six subject groups: Studies in Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and the Arts. Students must choose one subject from each group, although a second subject can be chosen from any of the subject groups instead of Group 6, the Arts. Students also complete three core elements: Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Action, Service (CAS).

The program is internationally recognized and is offered in over 150 countries. The assessment is based on both internal and external assessments. The external assessments are marked by external examiners appointed by the International Baccalaureate Organization. The program has a strong focus on critical thinking, creativity, and civic engagement, which helps students develop the skills they need to make a positive impact in their communities and the world.

What is the difference between the IB diploma and A levels?

Both programmes take equally valid approaches, but focus on different aspects of a student’s education.

The key differences between A levels and the IB diploma are:
  • Both studied over 2 years, A Levels comprise of 3 to 4 subjects studied in depth, whereas the IB takes a more holistic approach with 6 subjects.
  • The IB also includes other core components that are a part of the diploma, such as Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay and CAS (Creativity, Action Service) activities.
  • A Levels are graded A* to E, with A* being the highest grade, whereas the IB uses a numerical 1-7 grading system, with 7 being the highest.
  • A Level students usually pick 3 or 4 subjects, and can choose any combination of subjects on offer, though their choices are all usually closely related to each other.
  • As such, it’s not a question of which is better, but which is best for your learning style, and your study choices at degree level.
  •  The best path for a student largely depends on their individual personality and needs.

Our Faculty

Scholarships

As one of Pakistan’s leading academic institutions, we have a comprehensive merit scholarship programme that upholds our commitment to rewarding scholastic achievement. Scholarships to study in our international programme will be decided primarily on merit and, in very special circumstances, on financial need basis. To remain eligible for the scholarship, a student must maintain either a 6 or 7 in all the subjects he or she has chosen.

A limited number of scholarships are also available on the basis of leadership and excellence in sports and co-curricular activities.

Formula and Criteria For Academic Scholarships
The IB DP academic scholarship will be dependent on the grades or score achieved by the student in the IB MYP, Cambridge O Level or Cambridge IGCSE examinations.

Detailed information about scholarships is available upon request from the school office.

How do I apply to LGS JTi?

Since our IB Diploma Programme will be co-educational, admission into the Diploma Programme will be open for students, especially female students, beyond our own school’s IGCSE cohort. We wish to maintain a high level of economic, ethnic and occupational diversity of parents as well as a gender balance in classrooms.

Students choosing to apply to the IB Diploma Programme will not be required to take an entrance exam if they completed their IGCSEs from LGS Johar Town. If applicants completed their O Levels or IGCSEs from another school, including another branch of LGS, they will be required to take an English and Mathematics proficiency exam. There is no minimum standardized exam score, O Level/IGCSE grade point average, or subject grade that must be achieved in order to gain admission. However, the merit scholarship is based on achievement in O Level, IGCSE or IB MYP scores.

Students who wish to get enrolled at LGS JT IBDP should follow these steps:

Step 1: Register for the IB DP Open House to visit our school, gain all information and have all your questions answered.

Step 2: Registered Candidates will be contacted by the school and an Open House date and admission timeline will be intimated to them.

Step 3: Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the school for a personal meeting with the IB DP coordinator, admissions coordinator and college counsellor.  At this meeting, the student’s academic and career goals will be discussed and transcripts, extracurriculars and teacher recommendations (if available) will be reviewed. If any concerns regarding the appropriateness of participating in the DP program are expressed by the student, parents, or coordinator, the issues will be discussed, interventions and strategies developed, and alternate plans will be explored.

Please remember: the role of the school is not to present hurdles over which students must jump, but to assess challenges which the school, parents and community can support. Students who wish to challenge themselves both academically and personally will be encouraged and supported.

FAQs

The IB DP fee structure will be available on request from the school office.

Interactive and digital textbooks are available for most IB DP subjects which the school subscribes to including a paid subscription to Kognity and Pamoja resources.

In addition, students will also use traditional IB textbooks.

We are an authorized IB World School. No school can get IB authorization without an extensive review from the IB which is granted after assessing the facilities, curriculum, faculty and the administration.

We have only hired subject matter specialists who have completed IB professional development in their respective subjects. Many of our faculty also have years of IBDP teaching experience.

We aim to ensure that all students make sustained progress in their learning goals consistently over the duration of the programme. Assessment is an iterative and on-going process which informs our teaching and learning, and helps personalize learning for our students.

We assess and record student progress in several ways, which includes both formative and summative assessments. The final internal grade is a combination of monthly assessments in each subject, on going coursework, and internal exams (known as comprehensive summative assessments).

The full assessment policy will be available to all our students and parents on Microsoft Teams and on Managebac.

The IB Diploma programme has a 2 year internal calendar which will be followed by all teachers and students.

During the first year, teachers and students focus on subject content with constant ongoing evaluation of their progress. We aim not to waste any time on prep leave for internal examinations, considering that we are fully cognizant of the level of each and every student.

During the second year, Internal Assessments for each DP subject take place according to the 2 year internal calendar.

In addition, monthly paper practice sessions will be organized, so students become fully familiar with the examination pattern. These sessions help teachers diagnose the strength and weaknesses of each student and plan their teaching accordingly.

Students will appear for their IB DP examinations in Spring of 2025.

Our international programme is a combination of online coursework and face to face learning activities.
